Thoughts from my last wander in the woods.

To err is human.

Literally.

We will make mistakes.

Hurt others inadvertently (ideally, though some people cause pain intentionally, they are in the minority)

Part of how we learn and grow as human beings is through f****** up. We get a lot of virtues from the pain that is caused by others and like a pain that we cause.

So as they acknowledge how flawed we are as humans, where do we draw the line for who to trust?

For me the line has always been around remorse and action.

Some people are without remorse – so what is to stop them from fucking up again?

But remorse without change is just as useless. You can say sorry all day long and mean it, truly mean it, but if nothing changes the words become meaningless.

Today I found another weak spot.

We all have a thing that will get us to ignore our own boundaries time to time. It can be a person, a look in the eyes, a set of circumstances, or a phrase.

I’ve noticed this one in the past, but lately it’s been coming up from a different friend.

I believe in human beings ability to change. I wholly believe that any human being can heal and change if they choose to.

So if you convince me that you are truly ready to heal and truly ready to change, I may disregard other aspects.

So being there for people as a healer while a beautiful thing may sometimes lead me to overlook red flags.

So the question I’m sitting with is how do I have faith in people’s ability to change and still view them as a whole person and see all of their truth at once?
